IRAQ – USF-I • New Prime Vendor (ANHAM) – Largest change in Food Service • Logistics since start of operations • Progressive Roll-out • 1st deliveries to Northern Iraq effective Sept. • Full operations (including Kuwait) effective December • Understanding reduction in orders and change in products • No reduction in support to Soldiers is the key to • successful drawdown • Bluf: no new items added until operations are stable • So what does it look like now?

Drawdown • MEALS: • At peak, we consumed 765K meals/day; today 355K meals/day…a 53.6% reduction. • At peak capacity, we had six Water Bottling plants providing 1.5M liters/day; today we are consuming 850K liters/day… a 43.3% reduction. • DINING FACILITIES: • At peak, we had 71 facilities; today we have 49 facilities… a 31% reduction.

New Initiatives and Concepts, Feeding the “Warfighter” • “Stealth Health” • Back of the house incentives to benefit front of the house nutrition • Reduced Fat, sodium, breading etc.. • “Fresh food forward” • Double meaning • Looking for ways to get the best food in front of the warfighter • Soldier Athlete in the AOR • TRADOC push, not a priority for the AOR • The AOR is ahead of the game • So what are we working? • Turkey options – “not forced, has to make sense” • Seafood solutions – reducing cost while improving variety • Low Sodium alternatives, bases • Mixed cases with alternatives, provides better variety, less line items • Chicken Sausage, Meatballs • Vegan/Vegetarian alternatives – beginning to see some substantial requests for CONOPS and OPRATS • Soy Milk • Baked, baked, baked!!!!

Conclusion • Times are changing • Reduction in size is not a reduction in quality/service • Nutrition • Dieticians are key to success in new items • Change is inevitable • Products that have been mainstays for years may need “revamping”, Soldiers are looking for menu changes • Updating products • Where else are we eating in the AOR (OPRATS Driven)? • Saudi Arabia • Egypt • Kazakhstan • Bahrain • Pakistan relief • “Our Food Service support to the Warfighter is unmatched, • Thanks to JCCoE, DLA-TS and you. • Questions?
