Inventions • Although Alexander Graham Bell is most often associated with the invention of the telephone. • Bell is also credited with the invention of the metal detector in 1881. • In 1891, Bell had begun experiments to develop motor-powered heavier than aircraft . • Bell's own home used a primitive form of air conditioning in which fans blew currents of air across great blocks of ice.
