  2. Wilton Wednesdays • An opportunity to: • regularly get together • keep informed • benefit from visiting speakers • network in a time & cost efficient manner • share successes and best practice • shape future events • get a free lunch!

  3. icreate Accelerator Programme • An annual cohort of 3-4 technology based SMEs to be recruited into the programme • Basis of programme is to nurture and accelerate growth of high potential new products and processes in the Wilton Centre Innovation Accelerator incubator or adjacent areas • The prize for the SME is investment funds(up to £150k), support services, development programme, “heart of industry” positioning and mentorship; leading to fast track growth • The prize for the investor is UK-wide filtered deal flow and enhanced probability of success/growth in a highly supported environment • Programme based on successful models operated in USA and Europe(e.g. Techstars, Y Combinator and Seedcamp)

  4. Eligibility • Must be an SME • Science, Technology, Engineering and Life Sciences new businesses • Activity based at the Wilton Centre • Largely for Proof of Concept, Product, Process or Business Development activities

  5. Source of Funds & Lead Sponsor • Finance for Business North East • £125M over 5 years for N.E. SMEs • Money ex EIB, ONE and ERDF • 7 Funds run by 6 Funders • 3 have fit with our programme • N.E. Technology Fund(IP Group) • N.E. Proof of Concept Fund(Northstar Ventures) • N.E. Angel Fund(Rivers Capital Partners) • Lead Sponsor is Teesside University

Innovation Partners • Ability to hot-desk and meet with Accelerator programme participants; and, any other Wilton Centre residents • Delivery of appropriate segments of the “Entrepreneur Programme” • Some initial “pro bono” work • Provides comprehensive array of skills and experience for business support

  8. Time Line • Launch competition as “open for applicants” Jan • Application deadline end Feb • Selection process Mar/Apr • Announce winners May • 1st intake of new businesses June • Repeat process in 2014 and 2015
