  1. TFM: Runway Visual Range (RVR) Publication The TFM RVR Publication Service being developed by SWIM in Segment 1 will provide the following: • Make runway visibility data available to more National Airspace System (NAS) users, with more RVR data from more Terminal facilities than TFM presently provides • Improve common situational awareness and Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) between the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Airspace System (NAS) user, and between dispatchers and flight crews • Provision RVR data as a SWIM service that employs standard industry web service and networking protocols • Facilitate addition of new subscribers to the service, including members of the DoD, General Aviation, and Homeland Security. The TFM RVR Publication Service will take advantage of the greater number of Terminal facilities providing RVR data once the SWIM Terminal Data Distribution System (TDDS) is deployed in order to increase the amount of RVR data available to subscribers. Runway Visual Range (RVR) data is used to report the approximate distance that a pilot is able to see down a runway. For fully instrumented runways, RVR values with trend information are given for touchdown, midpoint, and rollout portions of the runway. The status of edge and centerline lights are also provided.
