Synopsis Binnen één weekend krijgt hoofdinspecteur Sten Wall twee aangiftes van vermissing te verwerken: een 54-jarige getrouwde ingenieur en een 28-jarige illustratrice worden als vermist opgegeven. Twee vermissingen in één weekend is wel wat veel voor de kleine provinciestad. Als Sten Wall in het atelier van de vermiste vrouw een gruwelijke scène aantreft, blijken de twee zaken inderdaad onlosmakelijk verbonden – maar niemand weet iets van een eventuele verhouding tussen het tweetal af. Hoe kenden zij elkaar? Sten Wall onderzoekt de zaak, en heft daarnaast nog te maken met een anonieme gluurder die vrouwen telefonisch lastigvalt.
