  1. Description Razer is at it again with the second iteration of the previous phone that’s dedicated to people who want the smartphone equivalent of a high-end PC with gaming specs. Razer’s new phone simply named Razor Phone 2, is for the people who are deeply involved in mobile gaming, want to stream gameplay, or think they can gain an edge in their next match from gaming-oriented hardware. The Razor Phone 2 is solely dedicated to deliver best mobile gaming experience as possible. The phone is said to deliver the best quality graphics for the users with a minimum lag and flawless processing speed.

  2. Design The Razor Phone 2 has one of the most unique designs, apart from any standard smartphone. The phone has unique placements for specs and features with a mind-blowing body. The most important part is that the phone is completely made out of aluminum. The whole body is made out of aluminum except the front display. Due to the aluminum body, the phone falls on a slightly heavier side. The grip and feel of this phone feel amazing due to its flawless grippy and ergonomic design. The dimensions of this phone are as such, 8.5 mm x 79 mm x 158.1 mm, for thickness, width and height respectively. The phone weighs approximately 220 grams. The phone is an IP67 dust and water proof, up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. For a total immersive gaming experience, the Dolby Atmos stereo speakers (THX-certified amplifiers) speakers are actually placed on the front of the phone, above and below the display. The speakers make for huge bezels, both on top and bottom. The front camera is placed on the top left corner overlapping the speakers. On the back the rear cameras are centered horizontally on the top half. Just below is the Razor logo which is RGB illuminated Razer chroma logo. On the bottom, you can find the USB type-C port. The volume keys are in a circular shape in the left side of the phone and on the right is the power key which doubles as a fingerprint sensor. The Razor Phone 2 comes in colors such as Mirror back, Rugged satin.

  4. Display The Razor Phone 2 has primarily dedicated itself to build one of the best displays for an immersive gaming and visual experience. Razor, being one of the best gaming laptop and accessories company has tried to build the best gaming phone as possible. The display is amazing in this phone with a IGZO IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen screen with 16M colors. The aspect ratio of the display is 16:9 which is very cool because very less company are able to come up with this aspect ratio for a display. The display has the best pixel density that is 513 ppi with wide color gamut and the it can pull up to 580 nits. The screen resolution is 1440 x 2560 at 120 Hz. The screen size is actually 5.72 inches and is said to cover up to 72.0% of the front. The screen is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5, oleophobic coating and it is a capacitive touchscreen and has a multi touch feature.

  6. Camera The Razor Phone 2, primarily being a gaming phone has dedicated to giving the best experience for gaming, graphics and video quality. Due to this, the phone has put a minimum focus to the cameras. That being said, it still has one of the standard cameras you can get in the market. Razor decided to go with dual camera set up with a 12 MP, f/1.8, 25mm (wide), 1/2.55", 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS lens and another 12 MP, f/2.6, 1/3.1", 1.0µm, 2x optical zoom as the second lens. The camera features on the main camera are namely Dual-LED dual-tone flash, panorama and HDR. The main camera is able to shoot videos in 2160p at 30/60fps and 1080p at 30/30/60/120fps resolutions. It does have optical image stabilization. It is able to produce images of resolution at 1440 x 2560 pixels. For the front camera, the contains a single standard camera set up with an 8 MP, f/2.0 lens. The front camera can shoot videos at 1080p at 30/60fps.

  8. Performance Like discussed before, the Razor Phone 2 tries to max out on the features and the performance being one of the few gaming phones. The phone comes with a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 (10 nm) chipset with an Octa-core (4x2.8 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4x1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver) as its processors. For the gaming part, it has a Adreno 630 graphics chip for the graphics. The architecture of this phone is 64-bit and has 8 GB of RAM. This combined with a solid display is sure to provide immersive gameplay. The phone comes with the Android v8.1 (Oreo) but will upgrade to Android v9.0 (Pie) on the first boot. It has a single nano SIM capacity. The tray for the nano SIM and the external storage is located in the left side of the phone above the volume keys. It has a USB type-C and NFC with all the standard network connectivity features. The benchmarks for the phone are as Base mark OS II: 4789 / Base mark OS II 2.0: 4163 Base mark X: 54750.

Battery The Razor Phone 2 has decided to go with a standard battery choice which is a non removeable Li-Polymer 4000 mAh which can be charged by a USB type-C port placed on the bottom of the phone. The phone offers a fast battery charging at 18W (Quick Charge 4+) and a fast wireless charging at 15 W.

  12. Conclusion The Razor Phone 2 can be easily considered as one of the high-end flagship phones with an expensive price point. But this phone is definitely not for everyone since the phone clearly compromises on basic features of a standard smartphone such as camera quality and dual SIM feature to focus mainly on the gaming factor.
