Environmental education and outreach Phoenix supports7 ecological centers in different districts of Primorye:Terney,Luchegorsk, Novopokrovka, Kirovka,Partizansk,Lazo,and Slavyanka We support 9 teachers in 7 districts by providing salaries and information materials. They deliver lessonsat schools and kindergartens on endangered wildlife, environment and pollution, nature reserves, conservation activities.

  3. Tiger Day Festival Since 2000 each September Phoenix in cooperation with a number of environmental foundations (IFAW, WCS, WWF, 21CT, WFN, STF,DSWF, FWS) organize Tiger Day. This tradition started as a small school event, which initially toddled like a tiger cub through the streets of Vladivostok. By the year 2008 Tiger Day achieved the status of krai-level holiday and today has grown to become a colourful festival that leaps boldly across the region.

  4. Leopard’s Land Festival Annually since 2003 WWF, Phoenix and Khasan district administration lead “Leopard’s Land” festival in Khasan district. Schoolchildren from Slavyanka, Barabash and other villages willingly participate in the events in defense of the 25-34 remaining wild Amur leopards.

  5. Educational materials • Reference materials (posters, booklets, CDs, books) and teachers’ guides on wildlife and endangered animals of Primorye • They are developed in co-operation with experts-biologists, ecologists, and educators • They receive approvalby State Institutions and become part of the regional ecological education programme
