What are OCLC macros?

  • Scripts that perform a sequence of actions in Connexion Client

  • Actions can include:

    • Pretty much anything from the Connexion client menus, plus more

    • Anything constant data can do, plus MUCH more

Why OCLC Macros?

  • Save time: have the computer instantaneously do many things that you would have had to do piecemeal

  • Save accuracy: have the computer remember several things for you, instead of counting on yourself to remember perfectly every time

Macros can –Constant data can’t!

  • Change an existing field, instead of just adding a new one

  • Delete fields

  • Find and replace

Macros can – Constant data can’t!

  • Move/copy text from one field to another

  • Perform actions conditionally (e.g., delete call number *if* record is a microform serial)

  • Dialog boxes!
