Commitment Scale positive behavior Doing Whatever It Takes +5 +4 +3 +2 +1 Committing with a purpose or a vision Declaring Commitment & Taking Action Committing until it becomes inconvenient Great Idea Takes some action..as long as its easy. The ‘cheerleader’ – “this is a GREAT idea!” Good For Others Gives ideas but doesn’t take much action Ugh..I guess I HAVE to do this Committed to a minimum

Commitment Scalenegative behavior • 0 • 1 • 2 • 3 • 4 • 5 Whatever No action to create change Apathy - Pessimistic “It probably doesn’t matter anyway.” Denial & Self Sabotage Sees no value and doesn’t want to take action. And has their own reasons, excuses, and stories Committed To Something Else Resistance is clearly demonstrated Battle Heavily committed to something else “Yes, but..” War Prevent anyone from succeeding, including themselves

  5. Before Class Starts, Put your backpacks away

  6. Sequencing LessonsBell to Bell learning • Preparation for learning • First 5 min warm-up activities • Objective and purpose • 15-20 min presentation of new information • and guided practice • Independent practice • Last 5 min Summary/Reflection/Analysis • Preparation for dismissal

  7. Classroom Rules 1 No talking while I am talking. 2 No talking without permission. 3 No getting out of your seat without permission. 4 Do not disrupt the learning of other students in the class. 5 No texting and using IPods.

  8. Consequences First time- Warning –Name on board or in my notes Second time – Stay after class to have a talk Third time- Call to your parents - Class Detention Fourth time – Office referral

  9. Exiting Rules Turn In Your Work Put Books into stacks of ten Check in calculators Don’t line up UNTIL you are dismissed Clean up your area
