  1. FLIPPED CLASSROOM ACTIVITY CONSTRUCTOR – USING EXISTING CONTENT

  2. About you The topic I have chosen for my Flipped Classroom Activity is about Flow measurement of incompressible fluid using different flow measuring instruments. I wish to work on this topic because, it is of immense importance for to be Chemical Engineers to know the basic related to measurement of flow. This topic focuses on measuring the flow using Orifice meter and Venturimeter.

  3. Prof. Subhash S Kadlag Flow Measurement Fluid Flow Chemical Engineering Under Graduate Students MUMBAI UNIVERSITY, FAMT Ratnagiri

  4. Out-of-class Activity Design 1 Learning Objective(s) of Out-of-Class Activity At the end of these videos, the students will be able to: • To know about the measurement flow rate. • To know the basic about the Bernoullis theorem & its application such as Orifice meter, Venturimeter, etc. • To know the equation to calculate the flow rate. Key Concept(s) to be covered Flow rate Working Principle & application of Bernoullis Equation Discharge Calculation

  5. https://goo.gl/yL5pCF • https://goo.gl/VSUYH4 Out-of-class Activity Design - 2 Main Video Source URL • License of Video You tube standard license Mapping Concept to Video Source Total Duration of Videos: 10:37 Minutes

  6. Out-of-class Activity Design - 3 Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective

  7. Out-of-class Activity Design - 3 Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective Expected activity duration: 30 minutes

  8. In-class Activity Design -1 Learning Objective(s) of In - Class Activity At the end of this activity, students will be able to: • To calculate flow rate with the help of any day today life example. • To elaborate the Bernoullis theorem & its application. • To evaluate the equation to calculate the flow rate using Orifice meter & Venturimeter Key Concept(s) to be covered • Flow rate • Bernoullis Theorem. • Discharge using Orifice meter and Venturimeter.

  9. In-class Activity Design - 2 Active Learning activity(ies) that you plan to do • Knowing Students’ responses to concepts like flow rate, Bernoullis equation and flow measuring instruments with real life situations along with Think-Pair-Share activity Explain the strategy by giving details of • The teacher will give different examples regarding flow measurement. • Students will solve the problem provided by teacherthrough Think- Pair- Share activity. Justify why the above is an active learning strategy Yes. It is an active learning strategy, as it enables the students to engage properly in discussion and problem solving related to the key concepts of the learning activity.

  10. In-class Activity Design - 2 Instructions for students to do in class activity: • Think about the provided three concepts like flow rate, Bernoullis equation and flow measuring instruments. • Make pairs with your bench mates • Share what you both feel about the solution to solve the above objective. Explain the strategy by giving details of • The teacher will provide some problemrelated to flow rate, Bernoullis equation and flow measuring instruments. • Students will solve the problem through Think- Pair- Share activity. Justify why the above is an active learning strategy Yes. It is an active learning strategy, as it enables the students to engage properly in discussion and problem solving related to the key concepts of the learning activity.

  11. In -Class Activity Design-2 Flow rate : Consider that for house use you are using municipal corporation water supply . As his close friend, you are going to give him some hint regarding how to calculate flow rate. Discuss in pairs the calculations steps to calculate the water flow rate. ( The teacher will move across the class and motivate the students to discuss about the given concept and will ask them to share their views with the class as well as teacher will provide them feedback.)

  12. In -Class Activity Design-2 Bernoullis equation and its application: Assume that you on behalf of your class, you have been given the responsibility to share Bernoullis equation and its application with another division.Discuss in pairs, about the different applications of Bernoullis equation for flow measurement. ( The teacher will move across the class and motivate the students to discuss about the given applicationsand will ask them to share their views with the class as well as teacher will provide them feedback.)

  13. In-class Activity Design - 2 Justification of- ‘ why the above is an active learning strategy’ In the above mentioned activity, students are required to go beyond mere listening and execution of prescribed steps. They are required to think deeply about the content they were familiarized in out-of-class and do higher order thinking. Because they are expected to learn solving problem in their class activity, based on the lower order thinking skills like to know developed by watching the videos and doing out of class activities. There arethink -pair-share phases which are observed by the teacher actively by providing feedback to the students.
