  8. Laser Talk on Pitching a Global Fund Editorial, led by Liz Clerkin, RESULTS Cleveland Engage the listener: On December 3, world leaders will meet in Washington, DC, to decide the future of the global effort against three of the world’s deadliest diseases. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria will be holding a replenishment conference and will work to raise $15 billion to support an ambitious new strategy to defeat these three pandemics. State the Problem: Massive scale-up of services, recent scientific breakthroughs, and advances in our understanding of these three diseases mean that our way forward is clearly marked; to not invest properly at this conference means we pass on an historic opportunity to improve global health and save lives. Inform on the solution: The U.S. will show leadership as the conference host country. However, U.S. cannot stop there. We must commit our fair share by pledging $5 billion to the Global Fund over the next three years. Call to action: Would you be willing to write an editorial on this historic funding conference for our local readers? I have a comprehensive editorial packet that I can forward you and would happily answer any questions.
