  1. Removable Partial Denture

  2. Introduction • Prosthesis • Prosthetics • Prosthodontics

  3. Prosthodonticsmay be defined as that branch of dentistry pertaining to the restoration and maintenance of oral functions, comfort, appearance, and health of the patient by the restoration of natural teeth and/or the replacement of missing teeth and contiguous oral and maxillofacial tissues with artificial substitutes.

  4. Indications: 1.Partial edentulous arch, specifically the distal-extension partial denture. 2.Immediate denture, temporary denture. 3.Partial edentulous individuals with the absent of alveolar bone, jaw and soft tissue. 4.Occlusal reconstruction.

  5. 5.Removable periodontal splint. 6.Immediate surgical obturation (cleft of palate obturator). 7.Food impaction appliance. 8.Reluctance to grind more teeth.

  6. Contraindications: 1.Psychopath 2.Patients were sensitive to crylic resin.

  7. Advantages: 1. To be widely used 2. Tooth preparation very little 3. Made simply 4. Repaired easily 5. Excessive loss of bone and absent soft tissues may restore by RPD.

  8. Disadvantages : 1.Unesthetic 2.Caries developed beneath clasp 3.Discomfortable 4.To grind food slowly

  9. Removable Partial denture types: Base type Frame type

  10. Tooth-borne type Mucosa-borne type Mixed-borne type

  11. The Component and Function of RPD

  12. Component Artificial teeth Denture Base Retainer Direct Retainer Indirect Retainer Connector

  13. Function

  14. Artificial Teeth Functions Types

  15. Types: a.resin tooth b.porcelain tooth c.metal-resin tooth

  16. Resin tooth: (Ⅰ)

  17. Porcelain tooth: (Ⅰ)

  18. Metal-resin tooth: (Ⅰ)

  19. Other types: a.anatomic tooth b.non-anatomic tooth c.Semi-anatomic tooth

  20. Criteria for Selectingthe artificial teeth

  21. Area of anterior teeth: 1. shape 2. size 3. color

  22. Area of posterior teeth : 3D-space

  24. Denture Base

  25. Functions of Denture Bases 1.

  26. Types of Denture Bases

  27. 1.Resin bases (1)

  28. 2.Metal bases (1)

  29. 3. Metal-resin bases

  30. Denture Base Considerations: 1.Border Tooth-supported partial denture base Distal extension partial denture base 2.Thickness 3.Location of attaching nature tooth 4.others
