  1. Find the Path of Purpose, Part 3 “Purpose” Means Connections Be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. 2 Peter 1:10b

  2. Theme God’s purpose for us is simple: to constantly reveal Himto others through how He has made us and through what we actually do.

  3. Introduction  • Do you recognize your personal purpose? • Could you explain it to others? • Even if you don’t know it, it is a key part of your life even today.

  4. 1. God’s CreationOf Our Purpose(A Review)

  5. A. God has designed us. We have been “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self… and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Eph. 4:22ff

  6. B. God has a purpose within our design. I urge you to live a lifeworthy [consistent with] the calling you have received. Eph. 4:1b

  7. C. God’s purpose is complete but WE are not completedfor His purpose. We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Eph. 2:10b

  8. D. God works constantly to prepare us for our purpose. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Phil. 1: 6

  9. 2. God’s Call For“Purpose Cooperation”

  10. A1. God wants us to cooperate with His “purpose preparation”of us. Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2Peter 1:10,11

  11. A2. God wants us to cooperate with His “purpose preparation”of us. …My dear friends, as you have always obeyed… continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Phil 2:12,13 Matt. 5:16 …Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

  12. B. Illustrating The Realization Of Our Purpose Let’s not over complicate this… A Call To Dinner… A License To Drive… An Election To Office…

  13. 3. God’s CommissionInside our Purpose

  14. We have the wrong purpose? The problem is with our spiritual DNA: “Who does the American evangelical look like? Does he or she resemble Jesus in his focus, values, and mission? Our analysis has concluded that Jesus is not the spiritual father of our Evangelical culture. Our Evangelical world is more about our peculiar cultural values and what we like and dislike rather than a reflection of Jesus. If we take a hard, objective look at the Gospels, we will see a great deal of similarity between our Evangelical values and the values of the Pharisees rather than the values of Jesus.”

  15. A. God’s purpose for each of us means becoming like Jesus. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love… Ephesians 4:32,5:1

  16. B1. God’s purpose for each of us involves people. We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me. Colossians 1:28,29

  17. B2. God’s purpose for each of us involves people. • Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? • Any comfort from his love? • Any fellowship together in the Spirit? • Are your hearts tender and sympathetic? • Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose. Phil. 2:1,2 NLT

  18. Theme God’s purpose for us is simple: to constantly reveal Himto others through how He has made us and through what we actually do.

  19. There Are 2 Kinds Of People • Those that know Jesus • Those that do not yet know Jesus • Our purpose (reason for being here) for those who know Jesus: Stimulate (provoke) one another to love & good deeds • Our purpose for those who don’t know Him: Help them to come to know Him by revealing Him in life…
