  1. AKcess Akcess, Inc. And The National Medical Association Make A Difference

  2. A Unique Partnership • The Partnership between Akcess, Inc. and the National Medical Association will afford the black medical community the ability to Generate significant Financial Resources for the Cobb Institute and other worthwhile causes. • This program requires no financial commitment from NMA members and is funded by activities occurring daily in their offices.

  3. The Physician’s Dilemma • How to Seamlessly Integrate Sales Calls into Your Day. • How to Manage Time Spent with Industry Representatives. • How to Eliminate Unexpected Interruptions that Interfere with Patient Flow.

  4. Introducing AkcessThe Industry Rep’s “Scheduling Suite” • Akcess is a new and innovative program that enables today’s busy physician to control the flow of commercial visitors to the office while eliminating unwanted interruptions through out the day. • Akcess frees office staff from the task of scheduling and policing the visits of industry representatives by directing that activity to the internet. • Akcess allows you to discuss recent clinical findings and new product information without being rushed.

  5. Currently … • Representatives often visit randomly without appointments multiple times during a single month. • Scheduling requires personnel time. • Office activity is often interrupted. • Physicians receive no recognition for the time deferred from their patients. • Fewer and fewer physicians agree to see representative.

  6. The Akcess Way… • Each physician predetermines the days and times of their availability which is incorporated into their calendar on the Akcess website. • Visits are predictable and scheduled without staff involvement. • Visits are remotely scheduled on the website and limited to five minutes per month per rep. • Akcess makes a direct donation of $25 to the approved charity selected by the national medical association in the name of the participating physician for every visit scheduled.

  7. Enrolling in Akcess • The physician or a designated staff member enters logistical information for the office on the Akcess website in order to enroll. • Each physician predetermines what days and what time during those days they are willing to set aside 5 minutes of their time to meet with representatives. • They then enter those days and times onto a template of the week provided.

  8. Enrollment Continued • The appointment schedule for each physician is then published on the Akcess website and made available on a first come first served basis to the representatives, who also enroll. • The representatives select available 5-minute slots and secure appointments much as you would an airline seating reservation. • The representative pays Akcess $35 for each appointment and Akcess, in turn, donates $25 to the NMA-designated charity. • All members can go on line and track their donations, call history, and future appointment schedules.

  9. Physician’s Role • The physician provides a full five minutes to meet with a representative. • If the physician is unable to meet with the representative within 20 minutes of the scheduled appointment, the representative is informed, the visit is cancelled, and the fee is banked, (credited), toward future appointments. • The physician’s staff may notify Akcessof pending vacations and anticipated time out of the office so that the physician’s calendar can reflect that information.

  10. Representative’s rOLE • Representatives enroll with Akcess and gain access to physician’s appointment calendars. • Representatives purchase five-minute appointments — limited to one per physician every 30 days — directly from Akcess… • The representative receives an immediate confirmation of the appointment. • The representative is given a five-minute grace period after which the physician has no obligation to see them. • The representative may cancel a visit up to 48 hours in advance and the fee will be banked toward future appointments.

  11. Solutions • Akcessmanages the time you spend with industry reps. • Akcessensures a predictable schedule of rep visits. • Akcessrecognizes you for the time you divert away from patient care. • Akcessenables you to learn about new product information and clinical data while allowing you to support your choice of approved charities. • Akcess maintains records of all activity for each physician on a rolling 12-month basis.

  12. Hands Free management • Once the physician is enrolled, no additional administrative work is required. all scheduling activities are conducted on Akcess’s state-of-the-art website. • Your staff simply informs representatives to visit the Akcess website to make appointments with your office. • This program has no bearing on requests for interim visits initiated by your staff.

  13. Why Participate? • Because Akcess is a Win …Win …Win! • It’s a win for the physician, it’s a win for the industry representative and the company, and it’s a win for the charities, providing much needed support for their missions throughout the community.

  14. In summary… • You determine when, how often, and how many representatives visit your office each week when you enroll in Akcess. • Akcess eliminates random commercial visits while enabling you to generate significant support for the Cobb Institute, a community-based charity, or your medical alma mater at no personal cost. • Each member is limited to donating no more than $2,000 to any single charity annually, ensuring that their generosity is more widely spread. The NMA can select additional recipients when the cap is reached. No tax deductions can be taken by any participants at this time.

  15. Your Impact • A single member, seeing one representative per day, would generate $125 per week or the limit of $2000 for their selected charity in just 16 weeks. This call frequency allows them to select as many as three different approved recipients annually.Their total annual gifts would be $6000. • The National Medical Association, with just 2000 participating members — each seeing just one rep per day — can generate $250,000 per week for their chosen charity. That’s $1,000,000 per month or as much as $12,000,000 annually to be divided among three recipient organizations.

  16. Enrolling • Go to the Akcess Web Site at www.akcessus.com • Take the Physician’s Tour of the Site. • Follow the simple instructions to enroll into the Akcess program as a physician / provider. The code for NMA members is: NMA001. • Contact us at (301) 638-2001 to receive assistance if needed.

  17. Additional Funds Once The National Medical Association has enrolled a sufficient number of its it’s members, Akcess will begin a program that will pay the NMA $1.00 for every visit scheduled via it’s program for a period of six months. If 2000 physicians enroll and see a single representative a day, the NMA will receive approximately $240,000.00 over that period. These funds are separate from those designated as charitable contributions. We’d like to complete enrollment as soon as possible.

  18. And Finally … • Akcess was submitted to a two-and-half year review by the Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. • A link to the Favorable Opinion is available on the menu at the bottom of the Akcess home page. • You may visit the website at: www.akcessus.com Akcess ….Consider the Possibilities!
