UNFPA Uganda RH Component: Linkage with NDP and UNDAF • National Development Plan Priority - Objective 4: Increase access to quality social services • UNDAF outcome 3: Vulnerable populations in Uganda, especially in the north, have increased access and use of sustainable and quality social services. • UNDAF CP Outcome: Government and civil society at all levels are delivering equitable and quality social services to an increasing number of beneficiaries in selected geographic areas. UNFPA Uganda RH Output 1: Strategies • Community mobilization and communication for social and behaviour change. • Health system capacity strengthening, including VHTs to support health promotion, birth planning and referral for skilled attendance at birth and EmNOC. • Institutional and technical capacities built for quality midwifery services, EmNOC and institutionalised maternal death audit. • Prevention and management of obstetrics fistulae and post-abortion care services. UNFPA Uganda RH Output 2: Strategies • Conducting socio-cultural research on reproductive health behavioural issues. • Intensified promotion of options and choice in family planning, using community mobilization, men’s groups, local leaders, VHTs and women’s organizations • Strengthening institutional and technical capacities of public and private health sectors to ensure options for family planning, applying its standards and norms, and assuring reproductive health commodity security; • Supporting the integration of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health and gender, including Gender Based Violence • Mobilizing political, social and donor support for family planning, including increased budget allocations GoU/UNFPA Country Programme 2010 - 2014

UNFPA Uganda RH Output 3: Strategies • Support participation of young people and vulnerable populations in planning, decision making and action for social development • Supporting young people access to broader SRH information and services • Mobilizing teachers and parents to support safe school environment, including school nurse services and improved sex education • Advocating for the integration of reproductive health in emergencies and recovery • Support to HIV/STI prevention among young people, uniformed forces, sex workers, PWDs and people living with HIV/AIDS.
