The Parable of the Fruitless Fig Tree - Luke 13:6-9 • Personal Possession - v6 ‘A man had a fig tree’. • Privileged Position - v6 ‘planted in his vineyard’. • Expected Production-v6 ‘and he went to look for fruit on it’. • Reasonable Condemnation - v7 ‘for three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit from this tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down, why should it use up the soil? • Plea for Patience- v8 ‘Leave it for one more year, I’ll dig around it and fertilise it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, cut it down’.
