  1. Farm House Plants

  2. Holly • Likes north or east sides of buildings since it thrives in shade. • Produces red berries when male and female plants are present or on the same plant. • Keeps leaves all winter long and does not lose them. • Needs to be watered daily when first planted. After a few months will be fine when it rains.

  3. Azalea • Does not lose leaves. • Like the north and east sides • Bright colorful flowers that can be pink, purple, red, and white. • They like soil that is very organic. • They can turn colors with addition or subtraction of pH.

  4. Fire Chief Arborvitae • Keep leaves all seasons of the year. • Have a dead zone • They are not broad leafed • They are drought tolerant after well established. • Sun to partial shade.

  5. Hydrangea • North and east sides– will take some sun but not a lot. • Flowers- purple, blue, pink, and white depending on pH of soil. • Water regularly when first planted. • Does lose leaves

  6. Yucca • Full sun to partial shade. • Likes well drained soil. • Can be all green to variegated. • Once established they will flower • Known and used for their foliage ( Leaves)

  7. Hosta • MOST hostas like shade- very few can tolerate sun. • Spread, known for its large leaves, can live in moist or dry soil. • Will get a flower out of the center mostly purple, pink, and white. • Different varieties have different sizes.

  8. Rose • Full sun– South or west side • Water when dry– every day when first planted. • Knockout roses are known for blooming frequently. • Knockout roses hardy to grow and easy to maintain.

  9. Fine Line Buckhorn • Like south and west sides– mostly full sun to partial sun. • Known for foliage does not flower. • Well drained soil

  10. Boxwood • Like sun- plant on south or west sides • Do not lose leaves. • Well drained soil • Do not flower, know for their foliage • Will see them in a variety of ways, hedges, single plantings by themselves, and even in wreaths.

  12. Spirea • Known for its flowers • Loses leaves in the fall • Likes sun so south and west sides are best • Flowers can be a variety of colors some varieties foliage change colors in the fall.

  13. Winterberry • Known for their red berries • Lose their leaves in the fall. Keep berries. • South and West- Like a lot of sun. • Water daily when first planted.

  14. Creeping Phlox • Flower in the early spring and keep flowering until it gets hot. • Colors include: purple, white, pinks, and reds. • Like the sun--- south and west are best. • Don’t need a lot of water once established.

  15. Cherry Tree • Loses leaves in fall. • Likes sun • Needs well drained soil. • Shiny bark

  16. Russian Sage • Salt tolerant • Grows by shooting runners through the ground. • Known for foliage and flower and smell • Like sun – so west and south
