  1. and Humility

  2. Bible also calls us to be brave, strong (1 Cor. 16:13) Describes the Christian as a soldier (2 Tim. 2:3-4) One who fights (1 Tim. 6:12) Meekness & Humility: Christian Virtues

  3. Who Jesus Was… • “THE KING OF KINGS AND Lord OF LORDS” (1 Tim. 6:15) • (Mat. 28:18) He has “all authority” • He has “a name above every other name” (Phil. 2:9-10)

  4. Who Jesus Was… • Judge Over All (2 Pet. 3:7) • He has “EVERLASTING LIFE” (1 Tim. 1:16) • When He returns “the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat.” (2 Pet. 3:12)

  5. Who Jesus Was… • “All things were created through Him and for Him.” (Col. 1:16) • He could have summoned 12 legions of angels (Mat. 26:53; cf 2 Kgs. 19:35) • Upon His las t breath, the earth quaked, the sky darkened (Lk. 23:45), the veil of the temple was torn in two, rocks were split (Mat. 27:51), the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised (Mat. 27:52-53).

  6. So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!" (Matthew 27:54)

  7. The Benefits of Meekness & Humility Meekness Teaches Us Obedience: Jesus “learned obedience by the things which He suffered.” (Heb. 5:8) For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) , “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” (Mat. 16:24)

  8. The Benefits of Meekness & Humility Meekness and Humility Keep Us From Depending Upon Our Own Strengths "And because of the majesty that He gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down. "But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him. "Then he was driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses. (Daniel 5:19-21 NKJV)

  9. The Benefits of Meekness & Humility Meekness and Humility Help Prevent Us From Falling.

  10. The Benefits of Meekness & Humility A humble attitude helps make it easier to obey God’s commands. And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, "My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, 'Wash, and be clean'?" (2 Kings 5:13 NKJV)

  11. The Benefits of Meekness & Humility Humility helps us to see ourselves for who we are.

  12. The Benefits of Meekness & Humility A humble spirit will help us to remember to place others before ourselves. (Philippians 2:3 NKJV) Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (Luke 14:11) "For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." (NKJV)
