Thursday 30th January 2014 – Charter of Brussels Joint call for the creation of European and International Criminal Courts of the Environment and Health • The Foundation has been established to protect the ecosystems threatened by increasingly transnational forms of pollution. • Among the initiatives SEJF promotes, there are: • The creation of the International criminal court for the Environment, which provides for the extension of the current competence of the International Criminal Court. The proposal is to consider the transnational intentional severe crime as crime against humanity; • The establishment of a European Court against environmental crimes which task shall be to ensure that a criminal justice systems is in a position to deliver sanctions based on the principle of “the polluter pays“; • Legal cases and proceeding, even with admission as plaintiff, in lawsuits relating to the protection of the environment; • Promotion of institutional, social, political and productive action for a strengthening of the environmental protection; • Further investigations and research, even at the academy level, on the protection of Commons Goods and the health of ecosystems (including their effects on human health).

(International EnvironmentalCriminal Court) et l’ I.E.C.C. (EuropeanEnvironmentalCriminal Court). De 2003 à 2014, le monde de la culture et institutionnel ont soutenu les projets.

Thursday 30th January 2014 – Charter of Brussels Joint call for the creation of European and International Criminal Courts of the Environment and Health • The International Court is in charge of judging crimes against nature and humanity in the name of the rights of future generations, and to: • Scrutinize claims submitted as a result of severe damages to the environment. • Issue a moral condemnation, after reviewing the case and conducting a popular consultation, while respecting the rights of the defenders of the people concerned. • Explain how such crimes should be avoided in the future • Raise awareness among people for a more consciousness and better protection of the environment.

It draws experience from three different and complementary elements: journalism, the third sector and international cooperation, University-based research. • Composed of dozens of Social Communicators spread between Europe and the American continent and directed by professional journalists, has gained in a decade a significant position in the field of information. It mainstreams sources of information to the media, direct contacts in the area, fixing services for editors and formulation of specific dossiers always free of charge. • The Observatory on the Americas has been accredited as the primary source and it has been part of the Media Center of World Social Forum in South America, Europe, Africa and the Amazon. It has reached over 3.5 million of single contacts on web page (2006) and has created several launches of exclusive news and alert in the field of Environmental and Social Human Rights. • With the support of the cultural mediation work done at the institutional level by Selvas.org it has been possible for Human rights defenders, representatives of indigenous communities to stand before The Commission of the European Parliament as well as the commissions of the Senate and the Chamber of deputies in Italy.
