  1. How to Safely and Effectively use a Bunsen Burner This slide will tell you how to use a Bunsen Burner safely and effectively.

  2. What YOU Will NEED! • A list of the things you will need: • 1 Bunsen Burner! • 1 Board to sit the Bunsen Burner on! • 1 Pair of Goggles! • 1 Box of matches to share with everyone! • 1 Gas outlet!

  3. Always wear safety glasses near a Bunsen Burner Safety First. Make sure the air hole is closed so there is no air going through to make a blue flame it needs to be a yellow-orange flame. Always tie long hair back. When you have lit the Bunsen Burner make sure you blow the match out some place else not near the Bunsen Burner because you could burn yourself or someone else! Roll up sleeves when you are near a Bunsen Burner so then you don’t get burnt or catch on fire. Make sure you always have a board under the Bunsen Burner. Because you do not want the Bunsen Burner to wreck the place. Keep Acetone away when you light a Bunsen Burner Check the rubber hose before you turn the gas on.

  4. Setting the Bunsen Burner Up! Make sure you always screw the rubber tube on tightly to the gas supporter but don’t turn the gas on.

  5. What the Flames look like! The colour of the flame when the air hole is closed is a yellow – orange flame. The colour of the flame when the air hole is open is a blue flame.

  6. Diagram’s of the Bunsen Burner!

  7. Putting the Bunsen Burner Away! • This will explain how to put a Bunsen Burner away: • Turn the gas off and un-hook the rubber tube from the gas outlet. • After you have done that you put the board and the Bunsen Burner back were you got it from for the next class that is going to use it.
