  2. Insurance Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) The Collision Damage Waiver covers damages to the rental vehicle. The self risk is €3000. No Insurance covers damages caused because of river crossing or because of damages to the underside of the vehicle. Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) Super collision damages waiver is an insurance that lowers the deductible of the standard collision damage waiver. It varies between rental company’s how much this insurance lowers the deductible. Sand and ash protection (SAAP) Sand and ash protection (SAAP) is an insurance that offers customers protection against damage that are caused by ash and sandstorms on the paint of the car, windows, lights and plastics. Damages from Sand and ash can be very pricey or up to €10.000. When buying the Sand and ash protection the self-risk from damages caused by sand and ash lowers. It varies between rental company´s how low the self-risk is.

  3. Gravel Protection (GP) The Gravel protection is an insurance that covers damages caused by gravel or stone to the windshield, headlights and the body of the vehicle. The damage can be caused by you or another car. Damages caused by gravel are the most common damages on rental cars in Iceland. It varies between rental company´s if there is some self-risk or not. Tire Insurance (TI) Tire Insurance covers repair or replacement of tires, valve stems and balancing. This insurance is only offered by a few rental companies. Theft Protection (TP) Theft protection is an insurance that covers the theft of a rental vehicle.
