  3. Popularity T-P-S • Do you think being popular is important to Wallace? How do you know? • How about Trudi Davis? Is being popular important to her? How do you know? • What do you think it takes to be a popular person?

  4. Dealing with Conflict T-P-S • When it comes to problems and conflicts, how would you describe Wallace’s style? Does he deal with things head-on or does he run away from conflict? • Can you think of some examples that show how Wallace deals with problems or conflicts? • What kind of conclusions can we draw about a character based on the way they deal with conflict?

  5. Listening • How does Wallace deal with conflict? • Listen to pgs 138-142. • Listen to think aloud. • T-P-S • Even though Wallace is banned from rehearsals and the performance, he gives one more suggestion about the play. Does this help you draw any conclusions about him?

  6. Vocabulary

What conclusions can you draw about Rachel from the way she handles this problem? (write) • On page 145, when Rachel visits Wallace, she notices a poster on the wall in his room. What is the significance of this poster? What does it say about Wallace? • Rachel and Cavanaugh have a conversation on pages 149-150. What conclusions can you draw from this conversation about how these two REALLY feel about Wallace? How do you know?

  8. Reflection # heads • Although Wallace began this story as the town’s hero, now no one wants to sit with him or speak with him. What has made him so unpopular? • What advice would you give Wallace? • Have you ever known someone who is considered popular and then suddenly was no longer popular? What caused this change? What is something the person said or did? • Can popular people become unpopular through no fault of their own? How might this happen?
