The Shakespearean Macbeth • Macbeth is portrayed as a honest man who became corrupted. • Macbeth is a coward who killed King Duncan in his sleep. • He was a foolish man who was persuaded by his wife. • When Macbeth was king he was a tyrant and a bad ruler. • Macbeth pinned the murder to the guards.

  3. The Shakespearean Duncan • Duncan was a kind ruler • Friend to everyone • Ruled with law and order • Killed in his sleep by Macbeth • His guards were blamed for his death • Killed in Macbeths castle • Was killed shortly after his announcement of his successor

  4. Historical Macbeth • Was a profound king • Macbeth’s rule was efficient and helped promote Christianity • Brought law and order • Friends with the pope • Killed by Malcolm the 3rd • Fought Duncan on the battlefield • Nicknamed the “Red king”
