  2. Early Intervention Services Guide Early Intervention Services are designed to help children with disabilities. A licensed professional is assigned to your child's case and will work with you to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). This plan will outline the services your child will receive and when and where they will take place. It should be completed within 45 days of referral. The first step in receiving early intervention services is getting your child evaluated. There are a number of different ways this can happen. You can request an evaluation by calling the state's Early Intervention Program or contacting a local early intervention program. During the evaluation, your child will be screened to determine if he or she has a developmental delay.Do you want to learn more? Visitearly intervention specialist

  3. You will need to sign a written consent form stating that you are agreeable to the testing.Early intervention services are designed to help children with disabilities and delays grow and develop. In some cases, a child will need these services right from birth. For example, a child may have a low birth weight, be diagnosed with a condition, or have surgery. In some cases, these services are necessary even before a child's third birthday.Early intervention services are often called Part C programs. In some states, they are also known as Early Childhood Intervention Services or EIP. If you live in a state with such a program, check the Early Intervention Directory to find a provider in your area. The Directory also lists state coordinators. These programs help young children develop with assistance from speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and assistive technology.Do you want to learn more? 4. Early intervention services are designed to identify and prevent problems from occurring. Targeted selective interventions are offered to families who are at risk for a particular problem. In general, these services help children develop the skills necessary to be successful in school and in the workforce. While this type of intervention is most effective during the first few years of life, effective interventions can help a child's chances no matter where they are in life.Early intervention programs are voluntary, and are administered locally by the Nassau County Department of Health Office for Children with Special Needs. While the process is governed by state regulations, it is important to understand the details of the program before you make a decision on which program to choose. The following guide provides information and resources on the program.Do you want to learn more? Visit Occupational Therapy
