  1. PRESENTATION PREPARED BY: MISS RIFFAT ARA SUBJECT TEACHER: MATHS DA MODEL HIGH SCHOOL PHASE IV CONSTRUCTION OF TRIANGLES

  2. MODEL LESSON PLAN / PRESENTATION Date:_____________ Academic Session: 2010-2011 Topic/Chapter: Unit.7 Construction of Triangles Tome Frame (Number of periods): 1 Duration of periods: 60minutes Prescribed book with Author: Mathematics for class 6 by Sindh Textbook Board, Jamshoro. Reference book with Author:____________________________________ __________________________ Website: www.mathplayground.com

  3. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES • Construct a triangle when Measures of three sides are given. • Construct a triangle when Measures of two sides and their included Angle are given. • Construct a triangle when Measures of two Angles and the included side are given.

  4. MATERIALS AND TOOLS • Geometry box • Blackboard / Chalk • Protractor • Compass • Chart

  5. EVALUATING AND CREATING EVALUATING: • Measure the angle of the triangle and draw the conclusion. CREATING: • Create a project on Triangles.

  6. PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE Angles can also be written by vertices <A, <B and <C. Three angles and sides are called six elements of the triangle. If measures of any three of these elements are known, a triangle can be constructed.

  7. METHODOLOGY Object no.1: To construct a triangle ABC when measures of three sides are given. GIVEN: __ B mAB= 4cm 4cm 6cm __ mBC = 6cm __ A C mAC = 7cm 7cm STEPS OF CONSTRUCTION: __ • Draw mAC of measure = 7cm • Take point A as centre and draw an arc with radius = 4cm • Now take point C as centre and draw an arc with radius = 6cm, which cuts previous arc at point B. • Joint points B to C and A Result: The triangle ABC is the required triangle.

  8. OBJECT NO. 2 To construct a triangle ABC when measures of two sides and their included angle are given. Given: mAB = 6cm mAC = 4cm m <A = 70° STEPS OF CONSTRUCTION: ___ 1. Draw AB measuring 6cm. 2. Make an angle DAB measuring 70°. __ __ 3. From AD cut off AC equal to 4cm. __ 4. Draw BC. Result: Now triangle ABC is the required triangle. C D 4cm 70° A 6cm B

  9. OBJECT NO. 3 To construct a triangle ABC when measures of two angles and included side are given. GIVEN: __ mBC = 5cm m<B = 60° m<C = 55° STEP OF CONSTRUCTION: __ • Draw m BC = 5cm • At point B and C make angles of 60° and 55° respectively with thehelp of protractor. • The arms of these angles intersect at point A. RESULT: Now triangle ABC is the required triangle. A 70° 55° B 5cm C
