  11. Improve your teaching. • Use active learning. • Use Classroom Assessment Techniques. • Change your technique. • Give frequent tests. • Video tape yourself.

  12. Improve your communication. • Talk with other developmental instructors outside your subject area. • Talk with academic advisors. • Talk with students. • Talk with learning assistance staff.

  13. Use the resources available. • Know and refer students to local social services. • Know and use the academic support services available on campus. • Know and take advantage of local professional development activities. • Join a developmental education professional association.

  14. Advocate for resources/support. • Evaluate what you do and share the results. • Share improvement plans with administrators. • Explain how resources will be used to support retention/graduation. • Be persistent.
