  2. Basis • Main Shutdown Planning Milestones • Basic Front-End • Workload from Equipment groups / CO3 • HT (Timing)

  3. Planning Milestones • Based on machine shutdown schedule • Contains commitments from CO for service availability • (See Excel file)

  4. Basic FE • Hardware: • Supply/fan preventive maintenance in PS complex ( => Temporary FE unavailability) • System: • Diskless Linux FEs: from SLC3 base to SLC4 • LynxOS: none • Drivers: Solve pb on VIP626 (CTF supplies via RS422) • Configuration: • Continuation of centralisation of startup sequence in Oracle (SPS FEs)

  5. Equipment Group work/ CO3: CO3 has collected planned work from eq groups (see CO3 web page / LinksShutdown work 2006/7 This repository should contain all shutdown work implicating CO (kept up-to-date by Andy/Claude-Henri) Below is a synthetic view of this list: (excludes parallel devt during year: PS CODD, Qmea, CTF July upgrades...) • General CO work: • PS complex & SPS VME cpu upgrades • terminal servers

  6. Equipment Group work/ CO3 [1: Main injector chain] PS Complex: • BI: Lin2 sw renovation +PS BCT • PO: Lin2 (1553), PS gamma-trans, PFW • BT: new PSB Distributor • RF: PS xverse damper, LEIR RF power SPS: • BI: Wire scanners/FESA, new Cedar NA • BT: MKE Pt4 & Septa pos/FESA • BT:SPS Emergency Dumps->BIC (MI) • ATB: SPS Stoppers/Dump, NA Targets (AP) • RF: Ions Low level, 800MHz switch/CCC • ROCS/FESA?

  7. Equipment Group work / CO3 [2: Auxiliary machines: Isolde, AD, CTF..] • Isolde BI: • Grids,scanner -> get rid of Windows FECs • Rex-Isolde • Beam Profile (AP) • Ion Trap/EBIS (TBD:not in CO3 list?) • AD: • Scrapers via PLC/FESA • CTF: • PO : +more in July • Stepping motors • nTOF/MERIT: • MERIT Solenoid: new VME system • BI MTV

  8. Timing Infrastructure • Timing low level: • Upgrade VHDL & drivers in all CTRx[January] • Timing library update (?) • LHC telegram change (affects LHC FEs, not really shutdown related) • Specific Demands: • SPS Prepulse HW renovation to LHC solution • SPS Fibre distribution system renovation (=>rid of Foxcom)

  9. Diagnostic tools • Continue harmonisation work • FE startup sequences • Hw config in DB • Fully implement Front-end based diagnostics: • FIP • FESA • PLC • GM • … • Then see higher-level tools: • Xcluc • TimDiag: New Java application from April • From console level: JAPC, Directory services
