State of the Club 2013 2012 • Average weekly tables: 12.7 • Individuals attending: 109 • Casual partnerships: 106 • No of partnerships: 119 • Members playing with 4 or more partners : 15 • Members attending over 20 times: 64 • Members attending 12 – 19 times: 7 • Table potential sizes: 17 • Average weekly tables: 13.5 • Individuals attending: 109 • Casual partnerships: 67 • No of partnerships: 122 • Members playing with 4 or more partners: 22 • Members attending over 20 times: 67 • Members attending 12 – 19 times: 16 • Table potential sizes: 19

In Memoriam • Long standing member Jean Balderson passed away 4th January 2013 after a long illness. • Thanks due to those members who visited Jean in the months before her passing and played Bridge with her. • Committee decided to re-name plate trophy as “Jean Balderson salver”. Presented by family at Annual Dinner and Prizegiving

Social events: Annual dinner • Annual dinner and prize-giving held 26 Feb 2013. 60 diners attended • Jean Balderson Salver presented by sons to winners of plate competition • Speech by Chris Balderson thanking Club members for supporting Jean through last months of her life • Other trophies presented by chairman • Evening concluded with 90 minutes of social bridge

Social Events: Others • Annual Barbeque 23rd July 2012 • Cooked by Peter Pratt • Desserts organised by MelekDrage • Post food social bridge directed by chairman • Very enjoyable event • Xmas Party 18th December 2012 • 45 people attended • Social bridge throughout evening • Event managed by Chairman & Roy Drage • Successful end to year

Regis in Bournemouth 2013 • First “purpose built” Bridge Club holiday held this year • 36 players attended • 5 sessions of Bridge • Ron Goddard and Colin O’Hara win players of the week • John Naylor and Paul Kilduff win Slammer of the Week • Music provided by George Reed and Bryan Power! • Small profit returned to Club balance sheet.

  9. Website use • An average of 3000 distinct pages viewed each month • Website viewed by around 700 unique visitors per month • Results are uploaded to website within 10 minutes of completion of event • Hand layouts uploaded every week to enable analysis of results

  10. Championship Pairs 2012 • Winners: Paul Kilduff and Peter Scott 63.1% • Runners Up: Melek and Roy Drage 56.7% • 3rd : Greg Harrison and Graham Pointer 55.4%

  11. Jean Balderson Salver • Winners: Megan Hardman and Norman Hampton 62.5% • Runners Up: Jacky and Keith Bowditch 59.5% • Trophy presented by Chris and Simon Balderson on behalf of the family of Jean Balderson.

  12. Phil Laycock Handicap Pairs • Winners: Keith Murphy and Ray Albone 60.2% • Runners up: Paul Kilduff and Peter Scott 59.7% • Third: Doug Lavis and Kevin Faulkner 59.3%

Chairman’s closing comments • Thanks to all committee members for their work during 2012. • Welcome to Paul Kilduff whose membership of the committee brings welcome link with our landlords • Thanks to all who have supported the club during the current year. Whilst numbers are down overall, we still attract 14 tables on more occasions than any other during the year.
