CMS RPC production scheme Revised version Assumptions for phase I (end 2003/start 2004) Glossary • PV is devoted to chamber test only and to bakelite QC; • An additional external company (HT) will be involved in the assembly (under the control of NA group); • Gap production and quality control remains mainly with the BA group with some help from the NA group; • Chamber assembly at GT remains with the BA group only; • BA remains as chamber test site and an assembly sites for RB3 chambers in the first phase. PV Pavia INFN group NA Naples INFN group BA Bari INFN group GT General Tecnica (Frosinone) HT High Tech (Caserta) CERN CERN-ISR SO Sofia group PU Peking University group More assumption for phase II (2004/2005) • SO becomes an assembly and test site for RB3 in the phase 2; BA site can be considered as back site for RB3 assembly in case of difficulties; • RB1 chambers are built in Italy (GT) and tested at PV • A way to involve physicists from PU in the RB1 test should be envisaged; • RB2 are built at HT and tested at BA.

HT • Capannone disponibile (circa 250 m2 per un’altezza di 10 m.) • Tavolo di assemblaggio consegna prevista venerdì 9 maggio • Attrezzatura delle scaffalature e carro ponte in corso. • Entro la fine di maggio HT pronta ad assemblaggio pilota • Test previsti: • Leak test • Test di tenuta del sistema del sistema di cooling • Test di continuità delle strips • Con tester • Con frequenzimetro • Test schede di Front-end (corrente assorbita dalle FEBs) • Test HV • Correnti vs HV • Single rate vs HV

Data Base • It stores all the informations related to the construction of: • Bakelite • Single and Double Gap • Chambers • FE Electronics • …and all characteristics and testsperformed on these devices It is implemented in MySQL (the DB) and PHP/Javascript (the interface) It ispublic and completely WEB interfaced: You can read from everywhere You can write data from everywhere: GT, Bari, Pavia, Naples, CERN, etc. Just connect to: http://www.ba.infn.it/rpc • Advantagesof the choice MySQL/PHP: • They (both MySQL and PHP) are free • Very good performance (comparable to very expensive systems … ORACLE) • It was the first Construction DB available in CMS: • Very good interface, developed at home • Graphic possibility to display and compare data: efficiency, currents,… • Tools for production coordination • Summary tables

RB1 Comment Activity at GIF (+ test beams) is taking an increasing amount of financial and manpower resources in conflict with other major activities (production and tests at assembling sites, ISR) The close loop gas system will be in operation this week. A detailed study of the aging effect due to some polluting compound in the gas mixture has to be carried on.
