EURAXESS Services Annual Meeting March 2009 Mobility Forum 16/07/2009 Article: "The parameters of the exodus" http://ec.europa.eu/research/research-eu/59/article_5930_en.html - 20/07/2009 Within the framework of MOREBRAIN project, an online survey on researchers' attitudes toward mobility has been designed . We will distribute the questionnaire to researchers in both European countries and the USA. For the first time, we are conducting a pan–European coordinated activity in order to obtain the necessary and comparable "brain drain" information among European Research Area countries. - 24/07/2009 Tender Euraxess Ireland intends to appoint a subcontractor for programming, and administering an online questionnaire, as part of the Trans-National EURAXESS Project MOREBRAIN. The paper developes different tasks as Brain Drain definition, how is analyzed in literature; the magnitude of the BD in EU; how the EU suggests to solve the BD problem. EURAXESS Services Annual Meeting March 2009 Mobility Forum 29/10/2009Key Data on Education in Europe sets out a very wide variety of both qualitative and quantitative indicators on different aspects of education systems in 31 European countries. The report presents a comparative analysis on how the education systems are organised, the human and financial resources invested in them, teaching processes and qualifications awarded. http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/education/eurydice/key_data_en.php - 03/11/2009 The European Parliament has published the note: "Cross-border Mobility of Young Researchers" through the Policy area of Industry, research and energy. Researcher mobility has been low in many Member States and there are several obstacles for mobility. EU and the Member States have introduced several measures to support the mobility of researchers. Despite these efforts the progress has remained slow and further effort is still needed to facilitate mobility in particular of young researchers. 03/11/2009 "No place like home" is the title of an article published on NATURE Vol 461, by Claire Ainsworth who is a freelance writer based in Southhampton, UK. The focus of the article is that Young eastern European scientists are returning to their home countries to set up labs — with mixed success. The writer, Claire Ainsworth tracks their progress.
