  2. What is the theory? A set of assumptions, propositions, or accepted facts that attempts to provide a plausible or rational explanation of cause-and-effect (causal) relationships among a group of observed phenomenon.

  3. What are the differences between hypotheses, theories, and laws? A hypothesis is a statement that can be tested.   So the statement, "A watched pot never boils," is a valid scientific hypothesis because we can test it (and find that in this case it is NOT supported by the evidence). 

  4. What are the differences between hypotheses, theories, and laws? A theory is a general principle or body of principles  that has been developed to explain a wide variety of phenomena.  A scientific theory is NOT a wild guess.  It must be consistent with known experimental results and it must have predictive power.  As new knowledge is gained, theories are refined to better explain the data.

  5. What are the differences between hypothesis and theory ? A hypothesis is an attempt to explain phenomena.  It is a proposal, a guess used to understand and/or predict something.  A theory is the result of testing a hypothesis and developing an explanation that is assumed to be true about something.  A theory replaces the hypothesis after testing confirms the hypothesis, or the hypothesis is modified and tested again, until predictable results occur.

  13. What is Architectural theory? Theory is a set of conceptual tools used to explain the hidden workings behind a large range of phenomena. Architectural theory is the set of conceptual tools used to understand the current situation of the built habitat in order to expand its range of possible outcomes in the future. In this way architecture keeps changing in order to be of use to a constantly changing society.
