  1. The Scandalous Grace of a Glorious GodRomans 3:25-26 Grace Community Church 1/14/2007

  2. Psalm 103:8-10 8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

  3. How Can This Be? Romans 3:23-24 There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Proverbs 17:15 Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— the LORD detests them both.

  4. Romans 3:25 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished…

  5. Romans 3:26 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. • Economic forgiveness… Innocent pays the bill. • Emotional forgiveness… Innocent pays the bill. • Spiritual forgiveness… Innocent pays the bill.

  6. John 12:27-28 27“Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28Father, glorify your name!”

  7. John 12:28-33 Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

  8. John 12:28-33 30Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” 33He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

  9. Romans 3:22-26 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
