Community Integrated Care:Ferncliffe Road Summary: A housing scheme assisting vulnerable people facing harassment from local primary school children (arson and rubbish dumping) – liaison with school to identify perpetrators – children visited the scheme to realise the impact of their behaviour – now building a sensory garden for residents Judges comments: “An excellent example of community cohesion at work using education not enforcement to encourage communities to value and respect each other” “So refreshing to read about an issue being solved through such a ‘human’ approach. So often we get caught up in legal remedies that can make problems more intractable”
