  1. BIG SOCIETY The future in your hands"We should say to every single council in the country: 'When it comes to looking at and trimming your budgets, don't do the easy thing, which is to cut money to the voluntary bodies and organisations working in our communities. Look at your core costs. Look at how you can do more for less. Look at the value for money you get from working with the voluntary sector.” David Cameron

  2. The 3 strands to Big Society • Social Action • Public Sector Reform • Community Empowerment

  3. What we already know • Creation of Big Society Bank • Big Society Day • 5,000 Community Organisers • Neighbourhood grants • Emphasis on Social Enterprise • No CAA or Place Survey • No Government Office • No Regional Development Agency

  6. Opportunities to engage • Lobby the lead for your Local Enterprise Partnership for a voice for the sector • Talk to your Local Strategic Partnership to influence new arrangements and retain the chance to influence • Be proactive in telling the public sector you are there and set out clearly what you have to offer • Lobby your MP on the importance of the sector in delivering the Big Society
