THE HEALTH LITERACY PROBLEM: Diabetes patients don’t return for follow-up appointments “ The doctors use words the patients don’t understand and the patients won’t ask them to explain because they think they ought to know or they have tried in the past and the doctor sometimes can’t explain it in understandable terms. Doctors have a hard time bringing it down to an average person’s level of understanding. “ What is the solution?
