  1. Evaluation of the viability of corneas from multiple organ donors  Allan Luz , MD; Rodrigo Pavanelli, MD; LucieneBarbosa, PhD The authors have no financial interest in the subject matter of this poster

  2. Purpose Evaluate the corneas from multiple organ donors in the Eye Bank of Sorocaba

  3. Metods The charts of multiple organ donors in the Eye Bank of Sorocaba from the years 2008 and 2009, until the month of February, were reviewed

  4. Results There were 09 (nine) donations of corneas from multiple organ donors, then 18 corneas were evaluated

  5. Results Four (04) corneas, from three donors, were excluded (22.2%), 02 (two) of them from the same donor and 01 (one) from the other two donors.

  6. Results The reason for the discardwas , in all cases, due to stromal infiltrate and epithelial lesion

  7. Conclusions The corneas from multiple organ donors in the Eye Bank of Sorocaba presented in the years 2008 and 2009 (until February) a standard disposal percentage, compatible with the percentage of non-multiple organ donors

  8. Conclusions The fact that the reason for the drop in all cases was because of stromal infiltration, requires greater attention to the care (occlusion and lubrification) to be taken until the capture of the cornea that is usually collected after the other organs are obtained
