  1. Defining Canadian Income Taxes For Pensioners Like most of the other countries, the permanent residents in Canada are also bound by the Canadian Income Taxes on their worldwide income. In Canada, individuals are subjected to minimum 15% regional tax rate on their total yearly income. A Canadian individual’s federal tax liability is determined by subtracting the personal tax credits, miscellaneous tax credits, and the dividend tax credit from the total payable amount. However, for the non-resident individuals; the income tax rules are slightly different. Canadian income tax rules are applicable on the Canadian non-resident individuals whose income is sourced from the employment in Canada including the income from operating a business in the country or having capital gains from the disposition of assessable Canadian properties. 2. Canadian senior residents enjoy a wide range of options when it comes to financing their retirement, including: 1)Federally Financed Policies 2)Tax Deferred Savings 3)Employer Sponsorship Plans No matter what your pension source in Canada is, there will be income taxes applicable to your income. For pensioners in Canada, the income tax rule is greatly dissimilar. There are different guidelines and directives for income tax filing for the pensioners in Canada. When a senior citizen starts getting the pension from the Government of Canada or any other private employer; the calculations of marginal tax or income tax on that pension become confusing for most of the pensioners. But to their knowledge; Canadian Pensions are taxed at your marginal rate, and you may have to pay a certain amount to the Canadian Government as the income tax. When a senior citizen starts getting a pension from the employer after retirement; the pensioner will have to fill out a TD1 Form or Federal and Provincial Form for figuring out the exact amount of tax on your pension amount.
