  2. What is a descriptive paragraph? A descriptive paragraph is a paragraph that describes a person, place, or thing in detail. Descriptive paragraphs let the reader picture what is being written about.

  3. Structure of a descriptive paragraph • Identification (זיהוי) • Description(תיאור) • Conclusion(סגירה)

  4. a.Identification (זיהוי) • You identify the person, place or thing that you want to describe.

  5. b. Description (תיאור) • You describe the person, place or thing you chose. Some questions to think about when describing a person, place or thing:

  6. Person What does the person look like? What does he/she like to do? What does he/she do well/best? What is the person’s personality? Place/thing What does the place or thing look like? Description of size, color, shape. b. Description questions

  7. b. Description words When we describe a person, place or thing it is helpful to know a couple of addition connectors (מילות קישור) : In the beginning of sentences: In addition, Furthermore, Moreover, In the middle of sentences: also and as well as

  8. c. Conclusion (סגירה) You close your paragraph with a concluding statement that reminds the reader of your important points. Some conclusion words that can be used: In conclusion, In summary, To summarize,

  9. Remember: You want the reader to visualize what or whom you are writing about!
