  2. 3400 candidates invited in the first Express Entry draw of 2020 • In the first Express Entry draw to be held in 2020, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issued 3400 Invitations to Apply(ITAs) for permanent residence. • It means 200 more ITAs issued in the latest draw compared to the previous draw held on December 19, 2019. • The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score in the draw held on January 8 was 473 points.

Though the CRS cut-off score has increased by a few points in the latest draw compared to the previous draw, Canada immigration experts predict that in the future, candidates with CRS score as low as 450 points may be invited to apply. • Last year, the lowest CRS cut-off score in any all-program Express Entry draw was 438. 

  4. The Express Entry candidates who receive provincial nomination obtain 600 additional CRS score points that ensure them an ITA to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the subsequent Express Entry draw. The Express Entry system also gives priority to international students who have graduated from Canadian institutions of higher education in the form of extra CRS score points.
