  2. CICE @ Georgian • Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) is a 2 year post-secondary certificate program that will launch in September 2011 • Our first year enrolment is limited to 18 students • Program maximum=40 students

  3. CICE @ Georgian • The CICE program provides its students with the opportunity to enhance academic skills • CICE Students also develop vocational abilities in a number of career-related, supervised field placement experiences • Students have placements Semesters 2-4

  4. Who is the CICE student? • CICE is designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities, PDD, brain injuries, mental health issues and other learning challenges • The CICE student requires course modification to succeed at the College level

  5. Admission Requirements • OSSD/Certificate or be at least 19 years of age • Must demonstrate academic needs that require curriculum modification to succeed • A level of independence not requiring constant supervision • Advocate reference check • Information Session Attendance

CICE Program Learning Outcomes The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to: • Participate with equal opportunity in regular college programs and activities. • Test and develop their skills for potential employment. • Develop and strengthen their functional academic skills in communication skills and math.

CICE Program Learning Outcomes The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to: • Pursue their own personal areas of academic/vocational interest. • Function more independently • Strengthen interpersonal skills such as self-confidence and self-esteem in order to enrich the quality of their lives.

CICE Program Structure • Students are supported by learning facilitators who: • Assist CICE students in achieving academic success • Work with students in and out of the classroom • Recommend and complete course modification to meet student needs • Provide accommodations and tutoring • Each CICE student is assigned a primary learning facilitator who acts as their academic advisor

CICE Program Structure • Students are also supported by the CICE Field Placement Officer who: • Assesses and recruits placements in the community suitable for the CICE students and the program • Ensures an appropriate match between student and placement • Provides training to placement employers and ensures student readiness for placement • Monitors and evaluates student field placements

  11. CICE Program Structure • Courses Required to Graduate: • Introduction to Computers • Communications • 3 Employability Seminars • Field Placement Preparation • 3 Field Placements (112 hrs./semester) • 3 Program Group courses • 1 General Education course • 2 Electives

Community Integration through Cooperative Education (CICE) – Program Tracking CICE 1004 Field Placement Preparation CICE 1001 Employability Seminar 1 CICE 1000 Introduction to Computers COMZ 1000 Communications Semester 1 F11 CICE 1005 Field Placement 1 CICE 1002 Employability Seminar 2 Course 1 in area of concentration *General Education OR Elective Semester 2 W12 CICE 1006 Field Placement 2 CICE 1003 Employability Seminar 3 Course 2 in area of concentration *General Education OR Elective Semester 3 F12 CICE 1007 Field Placement 3 Course 3 in area of concentration Elective Semester 4 W13 *CICE students must take 1 General Education course and 2 Electives. If a General Education course is selected in Semester 2, then an Elective must be taken in Semester 3 and vice-versa.
