Bullying. What is Bullying?. Bullying is aggressive behavior that is intentional and that involves an imbalance of power or strength . Typically, it is repeated over time. A child who is being bullied has a hard time defending him or herself. Forms of Bullying.

What is Bullying? • Bullying is aggressive behavior that is intentional and that involves an imbalance of power or strength. Typically, it is repeated over time. A child who is being bullied has a hard time defending him or herself.
Forms of Bullying • Verbal: teasing/name calling • Social: spreading rumors, excluding people on purpose, breaking up friendships • Physical: hitting, shoving, spitting • Cyber bullying: the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person.
Myth Or Fact • Only boys bully. • MYTH-physical bullying is the most common form of bullying for boys. However, bullying happens among both boys and girls. • Bullying usually occurs when there are no other students around. • MYTH-students see about four out of every five bullying incidents at school. Watching it gives the student who is bully positive attention.
Myth or fact • Bullying often resolves itself when you ignore it. • MYTH-Ignoring the bullying teaches them that they can bully other without consequences. • A bully will outgrow bullying • MYTH- Bullying continues as they become older. Unless someone intervenes, the bullying will likely continue and, in some cases, grow into violence and other serious problems.
Teachers often intervene to stop bullying. • Can be both MYTH AND FACT • Reporting bullying will make the situation worse • MYTH-Research shows that children who report bullying to an adult are less likely to experience bullying in the future.
Myth or fact • Parents are usually aware that their children are bullying others. • MYTH-parents often do not know if their children bully or are bullied by others. Parents need to talk with their children about what is happening at school in the community.

Take A Stand Against Bullying • Take a stand and do not join in. Make it clear that you don’t agree with what is going on. • Do not watch someone being bullied. If you’re comfortable say something. If not -go get help. • Talk to an adult that you trust. They can help you deal with this problem in the best ways.
