  1. P.O.D. Solve: 1. -3x + 7 = -11 2.

  2. # # # # Solving: ax + b = cx + d

  3. We must get the variables together before solving!! 5w + 1 = 2w + 13

  4. Examples: • x + 50 = 2x + 100 2. 9n + 5 = 4n – 35

  5. 3. 3(2x + 4) = 2(2x + 25)

  6. 4. 12y + -9(y + 5) = 8(y – 1) – 2 + 2y

  7. 5. 3m – (5m – 2) = 4m + 2(m – 7)

  8. A concert was held at RHS. The income from the concert came from a $250 donation from the school and ticket sales at $8 per ticket. Rent for the auditorium was $200. The school had to pay the band $1400, plus $2 for each ticket sold. The school broke even (didn’t make or lose any $). How many tickets were sold?

  9. HW #1-12 Answers: • x = 1 2. x = 1 3. x = 7 4. x = 10 5. x = 5 6. x = 6 • x = 12 8. x = -12 9. x = -2 10. x = 11 11. x = 5 12. x = 3
