About Mrs. Foster • AS in Family & Consumer Sciences Education • BS is Planning and Economic Development • My first real job was in the real estate industry • I taught three years for the University of Georgia teaching youth education programs (Agriculture & FACS). • This is my fourth year Teaching at LGHS. GO WILDCATS!

  3. About Mrs. Foster • Hometown: Locust Grove/Luella (when it was just cotton fields & cows) • Family: Mom, Dad, Brother, Husband and Son • Hobbies: I love to travel, have friend over, sew, being outside (lake, farm etc.) and shop.

  4. What is it All about? Nutrition and Food Science Pathway Year 1: Food, Nutrition and Wellness Year 2: Food for Life Year 3: Food Science

  5. Attendance • There is a clipboard on the front table and you will need to come in and initial under that date each day. • This needs to be the first thing you do on a daily basis. • You will receive an employability grade for my class and this along with your work ethic, professionalism and willingness to learn will go into this calculation. The less your absent the easier it will be to succeed.

  6. Seating Chart • You will be assigned a designated seat for my class. • You are required to be in your seat during instruction and assignments unless I have given you permission to get out of your seat or your working on an assignment that allows you to be up and around the room ROAMING FEES APPLY

  7. Get Cooking Questions • These are your warm-up questions each day. • You keep them on one sheet of paper and turn them in at the end of the week • It should include the date before each question so I can see when you completed the assignment. • You will also need to write the question as well. • You will get one grade per week for these.

  8. Grading • We will fill in your grading sheet every Monday with the grades you received the week before that went into IC. • The grading system has changed from two semester grades to a cumulative year long grade • It will be important that you keep up with your assignments, due dates and grades so that you are not failing. One small slip and you will fail the whole class resulting in you retaking it for another year.

  9. Turing in Assignments • Each class period has box they are to turn in assignments to. Your class period number is above the box. • These are located on the book shelf

  10. Class Folders/Binders FL & FS FNW • Each student will receive a folder that we will put together later in the week. • These folders stay in the classroom. • You will need and folder with 5 dividers. • We will put these together later in the week just bring them to class. • Every class will have folder checks randomly that will count as an assessment grade. Make sure you are updating your folder in class each time we update it.

  11. Due Dates & Class information • Items and dates thing are due are located on the board under your class initial. • Class information will also be on the “What’s Cooking?” board. I will update the website as well for your class with information you may need for the unit as well as due dates for your class. http://schoolwires.henry.k12.ga.us/Domain/5457

  12. Make-Up Work • You may only turn in make-up work if it is an EXCUSED absence. I will not accept make-up work for unexcused absences. • I will assign you a folder (located on the front table), in the folder you will find a make-up work sheet with the information you need about the missed work. • You have one day for each day absent to make up the work. • You will have your parent sign the form that you have completed the assignment, staple it to the work and turn into the green basket on the table.

  13. Work Not Turned IN • You will fill out a form for work that you did not complete • This can be work that was not made up or things you decided not to complete and turn in during class. • These will be put into your folder for my records.

  14. Discipline • We will follow the 4-Step program for LGHS • You will receive a warning STOP sign if your behavior is not what it should be. • The next time or if behavior continues you will receive a 4-Step • 1st – Warning/Behavior documentation 2nd – Phone call to parents 3rd – Mrs. Foster’s Behavior Reflections form 4th – Officer referral (ISS/OSS) with parent contact

  15. Expectations • Follow all class rules (posted above Mrs. Foster’s Desk) • ALWAYS have your name, date, period, class initial, and Assignment name on your paper. • Remember that I expect you to act like the young professionals you are. SCHOOL IS YOUR JOB • Be kind, courteous, respectful and helpful to everyone in our class.

  16. Groups • Unless otherwise informed by Mrs. Foster your group are the people at your assigned table. • Remember to Get Along, Respect Others, Stay on task, Use Quiet voices, Participate and Stay in your group. • Group Redirection – Mrs. Foster will give your 1 minute to get back on track if your group seems to stray from your purpose/task. NO ONE LIKES SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T DO THEIR PART

  17. Group Rules • Ask 3 before me • Blood, Barf or Bathroom • Clean up neatly and completely • Roaming Fees Apply

  18. OH NO I NEED…. • If you have decided to come to class unprepared then there is a SWAP for what you need. • I will loan you a pencil from my jar but in return you will give your SHOE as collateral. • When the pencil is returned then your SHOE is returned.

  19. Passes • You will receive a pass form for my class. • After those 10 passes are gone you no longer have then available to use in my classroom. • You must.. • Ask Permission From Mrs. Foster • Bring your pass form & Agenda to me to sign • I will give you the pass to take to your destination • Sign your name and place you intend to go on the dry erase board on the front table. • When you return you will erase your name from the boardand bring the pass back to me

  20. Food Labs • FNW – we will not cook until second semester of this class. You have lots of information to learn before you can go into the labs. • FNL & FS – We will go over rules and procedures when we are closer to enter the labs. • You will have labs other than food labs in the upper level classes.

  21. Suggested Supply List FNW FL & FS • 3 ring binder (1inch) • 5 divider tabs (Get Cooking’s, Notes, Assignments, Projects/Labs) • Paper (college rule) • Pencils and Pens (black or blue ink) * You may want to bring coloring items for projects if you do not like my selection. • Pocket Paper Folder (with fasteners) • Paper (college rule) • Pencils and Pens (black or blue ink) * You may want to bring coloring items for projects if you do not like my selection.
