  11. Trade With The East Why we should be proud of the British Empire • Because Britain produced a wealthy environment for us. • We all gain and use the privileges from them. • We managed to purchase various medicinal substances that we still use now. • Britain became a strong military and naval force

  12. WHAT THEY WANTED • China wanted silver. • Britain did not want to lose silver. • They tried to compromise with Opium.

  13. The Scramble for Africa • Africa was a big target for European countries with products like oil and gold. • It took only seven European nations to control the whole of Africa. • They were: Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium and Spain.

  14. Other aspects of British trading empire • The seven years war ( the first, first world war) • The Boston tea party • Was a rebellion which took place in Boston harbour (hence the name The Boston Tea party), when thousands of pounds worth of tea was thrown into the sea.

  15. My opinion • I am proud of the British Empire because it is one of the things that we are well known for. • If we had not of proceeded in taking countries we would not have the privileges and the wealth that we have now. • Although you could argue that Britain committed horrible deeds, I am proud to be British and I am proud of her Empire
