  4. Mission To promote, facilitate the deployment and implementation of seamless, reliable and secure interoperable IP Telephony and Multimedia applications across multiple networks serving the needs of customers worldwide utilizing international, open standards and technical specifications

  5. Charter To identify and document interoperability requirements for service providers and vendors for IP Telephony and Multimedia applications. Service Providers will eliminate standards incompatibility when dealing with multiple vendors; Vendors will gain commercially viable interoperability with other vendors.

  6. Goals • Develop and publish IP Telephony and Multimedia interoperability technical requirements based on international, open standards • Encourage, define and participate global IP Telephony and Multimedia applications trials between member service providers and vendors • Provide a forum for open technical exchange • Support, promote and participate IMTC/ETSI testing events

  7. Objectives • Identify IP Telephony and Multimedia Applications (VoIP, FoIP, Instant Messaging, etc.) • Identify Interworking Scenarios (Between H.323 and SIP/MEGACO/NCS) • Develop Technical Interoperability Documents for each application/scenario

  8. Approach • Define basic applications which will enable service providers to implements end-to-end VoIP and MM • Work on interworking issues including CCS/PSTN • Introduce Advanced Features: -Enhanced Services -Roaming -Other

  9. Interaction with CoIP and iNOW! Jointly: • Develop interoperability agreements which support technical requirements for global VoIP and MM • Coordinate/participate interoperability events • Contribute to each others e-mail reflector discussions • Participate joint meetings

Proposed Liaison Between TIPHON WG1 & IMTC aHIT! • Utilize the work of WG1 in determining the priority of interoperability resolution within aHIT! • Advise WG1 of requirements for future definitions of service functionalities for VoIP and Multimedia • Develop similar liaisons with other appropriate TIPHON WGs to expedite the implementation of global interoperable VoIP and Multimedia

  11. Working Structure • Bi-weekly conference calls • Group discussions through E-mail reflector • Quarterly Interop Testing • IMTC Fall/Spring Forums

Achievements • Selected VoIP and FoIP as basic applications to resolve interoperability issues, consistent with TIPHON WG1 requirements - Developed a comparison document to identify differences between ANNEX G ASN.1 content and OSP XML content to achieve interoperability • Selected interworking scenarios for each application • Had two conference calls • Started discussions with MSF for MeGaCo interoperability testing
