  2. What is Experiential Learning? • A structured activity that correlates with the school-based learning of the student. • An activity that includes specific objectives to be learned by the student as a result of the activity. • Formerly called Work-Based Learning

  3. Graduation Requirement • Randolph County requires 10 hours of experiential learning in your career concentration forgraduation. • You can earn an extra ½ credit by earning 60 hours of Ex-learning. (10 hours in concentration plus 5o more in any area)

  4. How it Works • Experience must be completed at a local site approved by the Randolph County Board of Education. • The Approved Site List is posted on your school website. • Contact Kathy Beahm (Central Office) if you want a new site approved. • After completing the activity, fill out the Verification Form (on the website). • Submit the form to Guidance by the posted deadline.

  8. Categories of Experiences Clinical Experience • These experiences are available only through the Health Occupations courses at Randolph Technical Center.

  9. Career and Work Skills Training • This category is available only through the CWST class at Randolph Technical Center. • Your job site in this course must be in your career concentration to meet the graduation requirement.

  10. Community Service • You can volunteer at any number of organizations, including • Scouts • 4-H • Humane Society • Relay for Life • Church • Hooked on Fishing • Davis Memorial Hospital • YMCA • Others on the Approved Site List

  11. School-Based Enterprises • A school-sponsored enterprise involves goods and services being produced by students as part of their educational program. • This includes classes such as • Yearbook • Newspaper

  12. Service Based Learning • This category involves services that are aligned with Content Standards for your courses. • With teacher approval, certain activities can count in these courses: • Advanced Art • Vocal Ensemble • Band • Advance Theater • Advanced career tech courses at RTC • Agriculture summer experiences

  13. Sophomores • You will decide on a Career Concentration later this year. • However, you can still complete experiences and submit the form. • Just leave the Career Concentration line blank for now.
