  2. 1. Whole Group • The Read 180 day begins and ends with Whole Group Instruction • 20 minutes at the beginning & 10 minutes at the end. FOCUS: • Reading Skills & Strategies • Vocabulary • Word Study • Writing • Grammar MATERIALS: • rBook • Notebook • Folder • Pen or Pencil

  3. 2. Stations • Computers (20 minutes) • You will have four zones to complete • Reading Zone • Watch a Video: First you watch a video on the topic that you choose. The video gives you background knowledge before you read the passage.

  4. 2. Read a Passage: Next, you read a passage on the topic. You should read this passage EVERY DAY! You can control the speed that it is read to you. 3. Use the Word Window: Whenever you encounter a word in a passage that you are unfamiliar with, you can double-click the word for the pronunciation , spelling, and word parts. For highlighted Powerwords, you can also hear the definition.

  5. 4. Do Two Quick Check Questions: After you read the entire passage you are given two questions to check your comprehension (how well you understood what you read) and the power words. You are graded on these responses! To complete the Reading Zone, you must complete 10 comprehension and vocabulary questions. 5. Recap: Look at the Reading Zone Report to keep track of your success. Here you can see what skills to focus on, and your latest count of words read.
