  4. Branch Banker Job Description The Banker position is one of the most vital jobs in the Virtual Enterprise Simulation. Listed below are the primary jobs required of the branch banker. • Maintain records of company payments • Responsible to make all company payments • Establishes*/monitor individual employee accounts • Maintains records of individual customer payments • Reports individual employee delinquency • Communicates regularly with your coordinator on employee payments • Train employees how to use the US Network Bank and services • Set up a Visitor Account • Set up coordinator account for your teacher*

No opening deposit. No monthly service charge. No minimum required balance. Unlimited free electronic bill payment and transfers. No service charge. • Interest Checking
Compounds interest on all balances, credited monthly. Unlimited free electronic bill payment and transfers. Monthly service charge of 10.00. Note: Employee the first time they log into the account will be asked to choose the type of account that they want. It is highly recommended that you tell them to create a budget checking accounting

And find me (Gersten, Alan) and go to my teacher web page • Click VE Student TrainingDownload the first files; Bank Managers Presentation (copy of my presentation) and the template for the bankers workshop. You will be using them during the presentation.

  7. Exploring the Data Portal Go to veinternational.org Using your company Login information: Enter the coordinator and password to log into the company bank account. If you do not have this please take notes on this part of the presentation. Click on the RESOURCES link.

  11. Exploring the Data Portal This is where you will add employees to the roster, If your teacher has completed this section, then all the student have been added to the system. If no one is in the list you will add the student here. If you have a list of students from your company we will start adding them now. Click the button at the top right

  12. Exploring the Data Portal The first name, last and gender are the only required information. You can go back later and add information as needed by clicking the employee name. Notice the Access boxes, if they are selected this person will have access to the firm bank and marketplace while in their personal bank account Please add yourself at this time if you are not on the list and give yourself access to both the firm bank and wholesale marketplace

  13. Exploring the Data Portal IMPORTANT! When you submit the information the system will generate a username and password. It is very important that you record this password so that you can access employee accounts at a later date. Open the bank template file that you down loaded from my web site. Use this to record your usernames and passwords. Visitor account Company Name-Visitor

Exploring the Data Portal If you need to go back and edit the information, you can click the edit button at the bottom of the page Here you can update information, allow access to the marketplace and firm bank. Some of the information should be added by your teacher to help the national office know the demographic information about the student in VE.

The Bank Account Account summary: shows what accounts are available and current balance Account details: shows individual transactions in chronological order Bill payment: is where you go to pay for something; ie. purchases, payroll, services… Funds transfer: allows for transfer between accounts-currently not available Scheduled transactions: This screen displays all transactions that are scheduled, but have not processed through the clearing house. In case of an error in your entry, you can edit or delete any transaction. Payees: Where you find people, firms or virtual services you need to pay.

  17. MAKE A PAYMENT TO AN EMPLOYEE OR FIRM • Click on the Payees link on the menu pane. Payees need to be added to your account before you will have the ability to pay them. We will be adding payees to the account now, you will need to do this for the company account and will need to training the employees in your company to do this for their personal banking.

  18. MAKE A PAYMENT TO AN EMPLOYEE OR FIRM When you enter you will see the list of payees that currently have added and that you can make payments to. The list should have all the employees in your company as you will be transferring money for their pay checks here. As you add employees to your roster they will appear.

  19. MAKE A PAYMENT TO AN EMPLOYEE OR FIRM You can do a search to find people, firms and virtual services. To add one or more, click the check box and then the add button at the bottom. Type in VEI-WEST and search, add a few new payees.

  20. MAKE A PAYMENT TO AN EMPLOYEE OR FIRM Paying a Bill: To payee under the drop down menu you will see the list of payees that you have added, you can select one to pay. Description: (alert very important) It is very important that you train your employees to use this and describe what the payment is for. This will help when and if your teacher requires you to verify that employees have done their monthly bill payments Frequency allows you to make reoccurring payments automatically. You can set how many time this payment is made Make a test payment for 0.01 and save it.

  21. MAKE A PAYMENT TO AN EMPLOYEE OR FIRM Scheduled transactions This is the list of the payments you have made during a day. They payments will be processed each night at midnight, so you check here before you log out to make sure you have not double paid anything or have recorded the wrong amount. If you find a mistake you can delete the payment or edit it to make a correction.

  22. Personal Banking Log out of the company account and log into your personal bank account using the user name and password you have record for yourself

  23. Personal Banking The personal data portal screen is different that the company. There is no Firm Admin. If you checked the box to allow access to the Firm bank and wholesale Marketplace, you will see them available. In addition you see your personal bank account. You can also change your password, if student change their passwords, it is import that they let you know the new password. Click your personal bank account

  24. Personal Banking At your first time log-in you will get this screen and will choose your checking account option. Have them choose Budget checking.

Proposed Ways to Stimulate VE Economy and Enhance the VE Simulation • Need to have more outside parties participate in the VE simulation. • Need to have more money and transactions circulate in the simulation. • Proposed to allow visitors, principals, teachers, business partners, parents and other interested parties to conduct transactions in the VE simulation. • Give each visitor $1,000 to spend per classroom visit. • Transfer money from designated company visitor account to company account after visitor sales by Branch Banker. • By using this system the VE economy has just expanded. It is hoped that all visitors will now be treated as potential customers, not just visitors. This will force companies to work on sales techniques. • The VEC central office will set these accounts up for each company in the month of October. It will be done in conjunction with the regional student training workshop.

Frequently Asked Questions with Possible Answers • What happens if another individual or company will not pay their bills? • Resend the Invoice to customer first. • Contact Branch Banker of the company. • Contact the CEO of the company if no reply. • Contact the Coordinator of the company. • What does the Branch Banker if company employees do not pay bills? • Remind the employee to pay the bill. • Check to see that employee has paid the bill.

Frequently Asked Questions with Possible Answers • What if someone pays the wrong party, individual or incorrect amount of money? • If employees catches this mistake before end of day it was paid, delete it from Scheduled transactions section of his/her account. • Inform company or individual paid of mistake. • Payee should return the money to payer. • What does the Branch Banker do? • Refund payer’s money from company account. • Remind wrong party to refund money to payer.

Frequently Asked Questions with Possible Answers • When do you run payroll ? • Payroll can be run weekly. • Payroll can be run on the 15th & 30th of the month. • Payroll can be run at the end of the month. • All employees will endorse and deposit their paychecks with you. • What is the Branch Bankers role? • Branch Banker will pay company employees from company checking account. • Branch Banker will pay Payroll Taxes to VEI-WEST INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE and VEI-WEST Franchise Tax Board on every company employee from company checking account. The payroll person in your company needs to give you the amount that must be paid.

Frequently Asked Questions with Possible Answers • What do you do if your passwords are stolen? • Report this to the coordinator. • Report this to Branch Banker. • Edit Account and change passwords that were stolen or forgotten. Only Employees can change their passwords. • How do we place money from visitor sales into our company account? • Go to the Visitors’ Account for your company. You should have Username and password. • Set up your company as a payee in the Visitors’ Account. • Pay your company from the Visitors’ Account the amount of visitor sales. There will be money placed in your company’s Visitors’ Account by the VE International regional office.
