  2. ABOUT THE ZAMBEZI TOUR

  3. ABOUT THE ZAMBEZI TOUR The Zambezi Tour has been set up to run all professional golf tournaments in Zimbabwe and is run by an Independent Management Board with a vision of expanding into the region. The tour takes over from the Zimbabwe Professional Golf Association who have assumed a ‘professional golfer’ developmental role while all its members become members of the Tour. The Tour and the ZPGA are registered with the Zimbabwe Sports Commission. The origins of the tour are centered on the need to create opportunities for professional golfers currently not playing on the Sunshine Tour to participate in regular tournaments and thus gain experience and improve their chances for competently participating on the Sunshine Tour and beyond. All ZPGA members form the nucleus of the Zambezi Tour. While the Zambezi Tour will be launched in Zimbabwe it is hoped that it will draw participation from the Region with players from Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland and Lesotho over the next 3 years.

  4. OBJECTIVES OF THE TOUR • Ensure a cohesive and well organized vehicle for professional golf • Creation of a platform for local, regional and international golfers to experience golf in the region • Putting Zimbabwe on the map as a golfing destination of choice internationally • Building a platform for the Tour to effectively feed into the Sunshine Tour and beyond, for players and organizers • Enabling Tour professionals to earn a living out of golf • Removal of the burden of ZPGA members organising tournaments whiilst giving the the opportunity to play golf • Providing operational support and expertise for all tournaments • Ensuring that sponsors get mileage out of their sponsorship of the sport • Producing professionals who will give back to the community through clinics to the public and corporate staff.
