  1. Service Level Agreements Emmanuel Tsesmelis RRB Scrutiny Group Meeting 16-17 May 2011

  2. Introduction • Meeting held on 5 May 2011 between representatives of LHC experiments and EN Department to review Service Level Agreements (SLAs). • EN Department – S. Prodon • ALICE – C. Decosse • ATLAS – M. Nordberg • CMS – A. Charkiewicz • LHCb – C. D’Ambrosio, R. Lindner • TOTEM – S. Giani • RRB SG – G. Mallot, S. Schmeling, E. Tsesmelis

  3. Introduction • Additional SLAs with the experiments may be consulted at the Workspace for the RRB SG. • https://espace.cern.ch/lhcrrb-sg/2009/default.aspx • Such meetings are occasions in preparation meetings of the RRB SG and/or when existing SLAs are coming to an end or are in need of review.

  4. M&O A - Power Distribution & Cooling/Ventilation • Current agreement (EDMS 658953 of October 2005) covered period 2005-2010. • Review of cost estimates is required to cover future years of LHC operation. • EN Department has completed relevant input data on which the new M&O cost estimates have been based and which will be validated by the experiments. • Data includes list of equipment serving the experiments and the M&O cost per equipment. • To be circulated via EDMS for final approval by end June. • Experiment TCs and RCs will be requested to sign-off on resulting new agreement.

  5. M&O A – Detector Cooling • Common SLA exists for detector cooling covering all LHC experiments. • This document needs to be extended in validity as the current version expired end 2010. • Costs for provision of dry air and the inertion system not yet documented in an agreement. • ALICE & CMS request preparation of such an agreement. • These are the LHC experiments that currently use such services.

  6. M&O - Miscellaneous • Heavy-handling • Agreements are in place between the EN/HE Group & the LHC experiments and no further action is needed at this stage. • Magnet Power Supplies • Agreements are in place between the TE/PO and the TE/EPC Groups & the LHC experiments and no further action is needed at this stage. • Experimental Area • Agreements are in place between the EN/MEF Group & the LHC experiments and no further action is needed at this stage. • Gas System • Common agreement exists for all LHC experiments. • Extension in validity needed as it expired end 2010.

  7. Host Lab Support • Underlying document describing support provided by CERN as host lab to the experiments is: • General Conditions Applicable to Experiments at CERN. • Changes with respect to this document should be flagged to the RRB SG.

  8. Host Lab Support • Video Conference • Roll-out of new video conferencing system VIDYO (replacing EVO) is advancing. • Tests by experiments are still in progress. • Response from experiments on whether VIDYO meets their specifications is awaited imminently. • Transition to VIDYO has not been implemented as originally scheduled for 2011. • Roll-out schedule will affect the M&O costs. • EVO support requested until at least end 2011 as it is still used. • M&O Budgets for EVO had been reduced by 50% (2011) and in full as of 2012 in anticipation of transition to VIDYO. • Expected that VIDYO will be funded exclusively by CERN.

  9. Host Lab Support • IT ORACLE Database • Agreement detailing costs for provision of IT ORACLE Database has been completed and it includes the relevant estimated costs.
